What tresD Models is
A free program, with no sign-up, that works in your browser to view intraoral scans (STL, PLY and OBJ): the occlusion, the superimposition of two visits, 2D sections, measurements and virtual model bases for 3D printing. Scans are processed on your own computer: they are not uploaded to any server. It is a visualisation and teaching tool, not a CE-marked medical device, and its measurements are indicative.
How it improves
Each version takes in users’ ratings and comments and the anonymous error reports the program sends when a scan does not open or something fails, without the file names. What is new in each version is published on the home page.
What it is built with
It uses open-source libraries: three.js (MIT licence) for 3D, three-mesh-bvh (MIT licence) for the calculations on the meshes, earcut (ISC licence) to close the bases and fflate (MIT licence) for the ZIP files. The model bases, the occlusion, the superimposition and the realistic colour are written from scratch for tresD Models.
